Sofia International Airport keeps making improvements to cover the growing number of international passengers. The latest is the Terminal 2 expansion. It was opened by the Minister of Transportation Daniel Papazov. Two floors of glass, chrome and aluminum; lifts for disabled and art posters on the walls – these are the first impressions of extensions Terminal 2.
“With this expansion Sofia Airport provides additional comfort for the passengers and better service while meeting the security and safety requirements.” said airport’s manager Hristo Shterinov.
After extension of the Gallery at Terminal 2, the capacity of Sofia International Airport increases by 200 000 people. Passengers from third countries and Schengen go through different sleeves.
One of the drawbacks at the moment is that coming from third countries will be transported by bus. This is a temporary, as in 2014 began building the walkway to the main building of Terminal 2. In the extended area at level 0 has 3 new entrances B-12 – B14 for remote aircraft stands, increasing the passenger capacity of Terminal 2.
Sofia Airport already has a category 3 B, which allows the aircraft to land at a minimum visibility of 75 meters.
From the airport reported 7 million and 400 thousand Levs profit for the nine months at 60 million lev turnover.
